Kindermusik Courtesy Information and Studio Policies

Choosing a Class

The age recommendations outlined for Kindermusik classes have been carefully constructed to best group children in an age and developmentally appropriate way. Therefore, it is important that your child be at least the minimum age by the start of the semester for the class in which you are enrolling. If you have concerns about your child's success in a particular age range, I am happy to discuss your child's needs and to work with you to place him in the class best suited for him/her.

Free Visits

At certain times throughout each session, I am happy to schedule a free visit in one of my classes. Please call for availability.

Register Early

Although you may join our classes at any time, please register early since class sizes are limited and many fill quickly. Registering at least three weeks before the semester begins also ensures that I will have your child's materials for you at your first class. If you enroll after the semester begins, tuition can be pro-rated accordingly.

Enrollment Confirmation

A registration form and payment must be received before enrollment can be confirmed. You will receive a phone call, E-mail, or mailed notice within two weeks to confirm your registration.

Refunds

Tuition refunds or credit vouchers may be given if there are extenuating circumstances requiring withdrawal from class. All refund requests will be considered on an individual basis. The cost of materials and a $10 processing fee are non-refundable.

Make-up Classes

Classes will be made up in the event of teacher illness or inclement weather. I will notify you of the cancellation and the scheduled make-up day. If your child is ill, please schedule for a make-up class. You are welcome to make up class during any other similar class during the week. Please notify teacher to schedule a make-up class.

Non-enrolled Siblings

Due to limited class sizes and the delicacy of the younger class settings, Village and Our Time classes can only accommodate non-enrolled siblings when the sibling is young enough to stay contented in a car carrier or stroller. Emergency exceptions are considered.

Designated Studio Area

Please refrain your child from exploring the premises outside the designated studio area. Piano studio/waiting room, Kindermusik room and bathroom are open to students. Please do not proceed past the bathroom. We do request that drinks and food be kept outside the studio or safely put away.

Piano Studio

Please do not bring any liquids, drinks or food near the piano. Refrain from touching the piano unless you are having a piano session. Do not use the piano as a table to store or write things. Please keep children away from tampering with piano in any way (no climbing on bench or legs, no crawling under piano, no tapping on it with hands or instruments). Thank you for your respect to this instrument; it is greatly appreciated.

Illness

I have a variety of ages in my classes and do not want to expose children, adults or myself to illnesses anymore than necessary. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated. Please do not arrive sick or with a sick student or sibling, if you do, you will be asked to leave.

Parking

Parking is located on Titan Way and Cottage Lane.

Making the Most of Kindermusik Classes

Plan to arrive no earlier than 5 minutes early for class. Arriving a little before class provides time for your child to settle in to the musical environment as they prepare to enjoy exploring instruments, reading books, or listening to music. We do request that toys, juice cups, and pacifiers be kept out of sight, and that snacks be finished prior to class. Be sure to dress comfortably, remove your shoes, and please wash both your hands and your child's hands.

During class, the most important thing you can do for your child is to be an active and patient role model. It is not uncommon for a child to attend several classes before feeling comfortable in class. Don't be discouraged—what a child is absorbing in class is often evidenced in the comfort of the home environment rather than in a certain level of participation in class. The understanding and consistency of the parent or caregiver in class and at home are key to facilitating musical learning and growth.

By the way, I love for parents to visit before or after class, but not during class time, please! When you are an active, focused, enthusiastic participant in the class activities, your child will model your actions and focus more fully too.

You and your child will enormously benefit from the Musik with Laura experience, especially if you make active use of your At Home Materials. Frequent reinforcement at home throughout the week makes all the difference in a child's comfort and participation in the classroom.
